Nursery

After all that planning and dreaming, I finally have a nursery in progress!

This is the material that I am using for the bedding. Rusty's mom is making it for us and I am so excited to have such a special gift from Meme!

These pictures don't really show the true colors well, but the walls are a beautiful, bright, happy teal color.

Rusty did a great job of putting the crib together with some help from his brother. Isn't it a rite of passage that dad has to put the crib together while mom watches? I thought that I should get to put up my feet and eat pickles and ice cream while I watched, but I refrained.

We still have lots of work to do, but each step is so exciting and makes me feel one step closer to baby!

Birthmom

First of all, I want to thank everyone for your tremendous outpouring of support and excitement for us as we start this new journey. We are so blessed to have so many friends and family that love us and are rooting for us! We appreciate the encouragement and love, but most of all, we appreciate your prayers for our sweet baby and for our birthmom.

You heard me right- our birthmom.
We have a birthmom that has chosen us to parent her baby!

And at least for now, that is all that we are choosing to share.

The specifics of who she is and why she is choosing to place her child for adoption... that is not our story to tell. It is our child's story and we want to protect that.

We also need to guard our hearts. I refuse to live in fear, but I do have to recognize the increased chance that we have of not bringing this child home.

There is a part of me that wants to share more, but I have to listen to the wisdom of others that have more experience in this than me and trust that is not the right decision at this time.

But, I can tell you this. Rusty and I are deeply, head-over-heels, crazy, madly in love with this baby already.
